Effectiveness of targeted OHS labour inspections
Three studies inform our understanding of the effectiveness of targeted labour inspections on occupational health and safety (OHS). The studies also indicate that randomized evaluation designs are the strongest method for identifying the impact of inspection programs on the subsequent incidence of work-related injury and illness. This Issue Briefing takes a close look at the design and outcome of these three studies, as well as the labour inspection programs in Ontario, Washington and California that they evaluate.
