A clinical trial of pulsed ultrasound for fracture healing
The goals of this project are:
- to determine the effect of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound on recovery from fractures of the tibia (shin) in a multi-centre randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled trial
- to use outcome measures important to patients, such as patients’ functional status and time to return to usual activities
- to assess time to healing determined by radiography, as well as rates of malunion and non-union, and of secondary procedures.
