Social Determinants of Health

The second edition of Social Determinants of Health: Canadian Perspectives explores the economic and social conditions in Canada that shape the health of individuals, communities and larger jurisdictions. Edited by Dr. Dennis Raphael of York University, the book has contributions from two IWH scientists in the section on Income Security and Employment in Canada.

Dr. Emile Tompa and colleagues explore labour market flexibility and worker insecurity. Dr. Peter Smith co-authored a chapter on understanding and improving the health of work, which discusses how the quality of work affects health outcomes.

The book may be purchased from the website of Canadian Scholars' Press Inc., the publisher.
