Temporary work agency study

Our study

The Institute for Work & Health is doing a study about temporary work agencies. We want to understand what it is like to be a temporary agency worker, what it is like to supervise workers hired from temp agencies, and how temporary work agencies handle temp workers. We specifically want to hear about workplace health and safety and everyday situations at work.

We are holding focus groups and interviews in Ontario to learn about these kinds of experiences first-hand. We are looking for:

  1. temp agency workers
  2. employers who hire temp agency workers OR supervisors who manage temp agency workers
  3. temporary work agency recruiters

Focus group usually take two hours and we need six to eight workers to participate in each group. Interviews usually take one hour. We will be holding focus groups and interviews in March and April 2011. The exact date, time and place will be based on what is best for participants.

Participants will receive $50 as thanks and to cover any costs getting to and from the focus group or interview. We will also provide a light meal at all focus-group sessions.

Your privacy

Participation is confidential (only our research team and other worker participants will know who you are), and it is anonymous (information that might identify you, i.e. name, workplace, hometown, etc., will be removed). If you join our focus group or participate in an interview, your private information will be replaced with information that will NOT identify you, so people who know you – including your employer and other people at work – will not find out that you participated in this study.
