Unhealthy Work

Unhealthy Work: Causes, Consequences, Cures explores the work characteristics that can be harmful to health, such as work intensity, control over work processes or job insecurity, among other factors. This topic is addressed in three parts: understanding the changing nature of work; the health and economic costs of “unhealthy” work; and case studies and interventions to improve working conditions, prevent disease and improve health.

IWH scientist Dr. Peter Smith and Dr. John Frank co-authored a chapter on the changing nature of work in Canada and other developed countries.
