Dr. Philip Bigelow

Dr. Philip Bigelow is an associate professor in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, and has an appointment in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Bigelow teaches courses in occupational health, risk assessment and epidemiology, and is a faculty member in the Collaborative PhD Program in Work and Health. Previously, Bigelow was a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Health at Colorado State University for over 10 years.

Bigelow's research focuses on interventions in occupational health; evaluation and measurement of health and safety management systems; and risk assessment and standard setting in occupational health. Bigelow, a Registered Occupational Hygienist, also has extensive field experience, having managed occupational health and safety programs in a variety of industries and having held leadership positions on the Threshold Limit Values Committee.

Bigelow received a BSc in kinesiology at Simon Fraser University, an MHSc in occupational and environmental health at the University of Toronto, and a PhD in epidemiology at the University of Calgary.
