Dr. Cecile Boot

Dr. Cécile Boot is a professor of societal participation and health in the Department of Public and Occupational Health at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 

Boot's research resides within the Societal Participation and Health Program at the Amsterdam Public Health Research Institute. Her research interests include sustained employability and older workers, working with chronic conditions, prolonged work participation, informal care-giving and worksite health promotion, with a preference for interdisciplinary collaboration.
 
Boot also holds a part-time endowed chair in the organization and quality of work in elderly care at the Behavioural Science Institute of Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She is an associate editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment and Health

Boot trained as a health scientist, obtaining her PhD at the Radboud University Nijmegen. There, she focused on the sick leave of workers with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma.
