Projects at the Institute for Work & Health are sometimes supported by an advisory committee made up of stakeholders invested in the research. To ensure different viewpoints are represented in an advisory group, members of advisory groups are recruited based on their subject matter expertise; specific professional roles; specific perspectives on the research topic; or lived experience of a disability, work-related injury or illness.
Advisory committees work with the project team to offer feedback and guidance based on their respective areas of expertise. Advisory groups meet at different stages of the project including:
- at the start of projects to offer input on the framing of the research questions and research plan
- at mid-course to review progress and offer advice on any issues that need to be addressed
- near the end of projects, when findings are available, to discuss the findings’ implications, provide advice on the key messages and to plan dissemination avenues
The time commitment for an advisory committee member ranges from three to 10 hours per year over two to seven years.
If you’re interested in being contacted about opportunities to join an advisory committee, please provide your information in the fields below.
