Get involved

The Institute for Work & Health (IWH) works with workers, employers and policy-makers to ensure our research is relevant and applicable to them and the communities they serve. We also strive to build the capacity of stakeholders to use research. Creating ways for users of work and health research to get involved with IWH is one way we support these goals. Here are several ways you can get involved with our work.

Take part in a study

From time to time, IWH scientists will recruit individuals and/or organizations to take part in research studies. This can include participating in a survey, an interview, a focus group or a combination of these. Participant eligibility depends on the nature and scope of the study.

Join a project advisory committee

Some research projects at IWH are supported by an advisory committee, made up of stakeholders interested in the research. The composition of an advisory committee depends on the nature of the study. Committees may include subject matter experts; people with specific professional roles or specific perspectives on the research topic; or people with lived experience of a disability, work-related injury or illness.

Become an adjunct scientist

Work and health scientists who are established in their fields and who have ongoing, meaningful collaborations with IWH scientists can be appointed as adjunct scientists. This honorary position recognizes the recipients’ high calibre research, their role in enhancing the multidisciplinary nature of IWH research and their contribution to the work and health research ecosystem.
